CwinScraper Tutorials & Guides

Everything you need to know about collecting video metrics, customizing worker speeds, and managing exports.

1. Getting Started: Installing & Opening the Side Panel

Install CwinScraper from the Chrome Web Store or Edge Add-ons, pin the icon to your toolbar, and open the extension in the browser Side Panel.

1

Click "Add to Chrome" from the official store listing.

2

Click the puzzle icon (Extensions) in your browser toolbar and pin CwinScraper for quick access.

3

Navigate to any YouTube channel page (e.g., youtube.com/@Google/videos).

4

Click the CwinScraper icon. The extension immediately opens in the Chrome Side Panel alongside your tab!

2. Sorting Modes: Latest vs Popular vs Oldest vs All

Master the three sorting strategies to collect the exact video segment you need for your audit.

1

Latest: Harvests videos in chronological upload order (great for tracking recent publishing cadence).

2

Popular: Gathers top-viewed videos first (ideal for identifying outlier hits and content pillars).

3

Oldest: Extracts foundational videos from the channel’s inception.

4

All Sorts: Automatically cycles through all 3 categories sequentially and applies deduplication logic to extract the complete channel catalog.

3. Exporting Datasets to Excel (.xlsx), CSV, and JSON

Convert your scraped video data into professional formatted spreadsheets ready for stakeholder presentation or Google Sheets import.

1

Once scraping finishes or you hit "Stop", switch to the "Data Table" navigation tab.

2

Use the instant search box to filter video titles, or click column headers (Views, Likes, Comments) to sort descending.

3

Click "Excel (.xlsx)" to download a styled worksheet with auto-fit columns.

4

Click "CSV" for UTF-8 with BOM format, ensuring non-English titles (Vietnamese, Japanese, Arabic) render cleanly in Excel.

5

Click "Copy URLs" to copy all clean video links directly to your clipboard.

4. Configuring Official YouTube Data API v3 (Optional)

Speed up video metadata enrichment up to 10x by optionally plugging in your personal Google Cloud API Key.

1

Go to the Google Cloud Console (console.cloud.google.com) and create a free project.

2

Enable the "YouTube Data API v3" in API Library.

3

Create an API Key under Credentials.

4

In CwinScraper Sidepanel, click the Gear icon (Settings), paste your key, and click "Test Connection".

5

Your key is stored 100% locally on your machine and gives you batch queries of 50 videos per call!
